PASTELS

In my pastel paintings everything is simple on the surface, just tear the curtain weighting on the world. There is an impression that colour planes freed themselves from the rigour of the decor. This surrender to the nature of it, its rules fascinates me. The deformation of a seemingly flat surface, that is actually able to ripple, penetrate, oscillate. That’s where the boundaries form and what they serve. Every pastel is a voluntarily restricted space where actions can take on meaning and lead to some kind of a mirage. They don’t exist anywhere else than accepted restrictions.
